If you have a kitty, there’s a good chance that at some point you’ve noticed your cute pet looking at you with a smug, all-knowing expression on her face. Although the owl may hold the unofficial title of wisest animal, as it turns out, our feline friends have some valuable lessons to share with us. Read on as a Rochester, NY vet discusses some things we can learn from cats.
Get Plenty Of Sleep
If our feline friends had just one golden rule to follow, we’re pretty sure this would be it. Cats can sleep up to 20 hours a day! While you probably don’t need quite that much shuteye, it is important to be sure you’re getting enough rest.
Kitties may be small, but they can be quite fearless. There are many remarkable stories about brave and loyal cats chasing dogs, snakes, and even bears out of their domain! While we definitely don’t recommend that you confront wild animals, there is something to be learned from Fluffy’s bravery. Don’t be afraid to go for what you want!
Fluffy has a reputation for being rather finicky. There is a good reason for this: kitties will instinctively turn down anything that smells even a little bit off. Take a cue from your feline buddy, and make sure you’re eating good, nutritious food.
Cats can be absolutely hilarious when they are feeling playful. However, Fluffy doesn’t care if she looks silly batting a bottlecap around the kitchen floor: she’s too busy having a blast! Take time off to do something fun.
Kitties are quite adventurous. Fluffy will explore every nook and cranny of her home, and will immediately investigate any boxes you bring home. Do some traveling this year! Take that vacation you always wanted, or explore local places that are off the beaten path.
Show Your Love
Although Fluffy may have tried very hard to garner a reputation as a cold, aloof pet, in actuality, she can be quite a little lovebug. Many kitties want nothing more than to snuggle with and nap on their favorite humans. (Of course, cats have some rather unique ways of showing affection, but that’s another topic.) Show your loved ones that you care!
