Mew Year’s Day

Happy New Year! And, to our feline friends, Happy Mew Year! Mew Year, or the New Year for cats, is actually tomorrow, January 2nd. This is a cute reminder to pay our furry pals some extra attention as we start the new year. A local Rochester, NY vet discusses Fluffy’s first official kitty holiday of 2021 below.

Fluffy’s Resolutions

If your furry friend could list her goals for the coming year, what do you think would be on her list? It’s probably safe to say that Fluffy may want to finally capture that mysterious red dot. She may also try to be more precise about spreading cat fur around. She may also want to purrfect her pounces, keep a closer eye on her humans, or experiment with different napping spots and/or positions. Then again, it’s also possible that your kitty wouldn’t bother with resolutions at all. Most of our feline pals will probably sleep through most of 2021 anyway!

Resolutions For Kitty Owners

Are you making resolutions this year? If so, why not include your adorable little pet in your goals? Ramp up your kitty care game, and spoil your furry buddy a bit. Provide Fluffy with lots of toys, and play with her every day. Another good resolution would be to keep up with your furball’s veterinary care needs. Many of our feline patients don’t see us as often as they should. Ask your vet to recommend an appointment schedule.

A Helping Paw

Do you want to focus more on giving back to your community this year? Consider getting involved with a local animal charity or rescue. Volunteers and fosters are always needed. You can also donate money, supplies, or pet food to an organization that helps kitties. Even sharing the word on social media can help!

January 2nd is often the first back-to-normal day for people after a busy holiday season. Settle in with your feline buddy, some comfort food or leftovers, and a good book or movie. If you have kids, pick a show or film that features kitties. There are plenty of great ones to choose from! Get Fluffy’s little motor going by playing with her, and perhaps giving her a special treat.

As your Rochester, NY veterinary clinic, we’re dedicated to offering great care. We look forward to helping you keep your cat happy and healthy in 2021 and beyond!
