Purrfect Ways To Spoil Your Kitty For National Cat Lovers’ Month

December has officially gone to the furballs: it’s Cat Lovers Month! Fluffy is definitely well-deserving of this honor. Her adorable quirks, silly habits, and affectionate cuddles have all earned her a special place in our hearts … and on our laps. Read on as a Rochester, NY vet lists a few of the things you can do to get that little motor going.

Toys are of course at the top of the list here. Fluffy’s playful antics can be absolutely hilarious to watch! Cats tend to have their own preferences for toys. Some kitties prefer catnip mice, some like little balls, and others prefer wand toys or laser pointers. Offer your pet a variety to see what she likes best.

Many kitties like to sniff at and nibble on plants. You can grow kitty favorites, such as catnip and cat grass, in small containers for Fluffy. Spider plants are also pretty popular with our feline pals. The ASPCA has a wonderful directory of safe and unsafe plants here.

Sure, Fluffy may already have a bed. However, given that she will spend up to 16 hours a day snoozing, it only makes sense to give her some options. Store-bought beds are a no-brainer, but if you like to craft, you can also make one. There are great tutorials online!

Fluffy has a knack for being able to get comfortable pretty much anywhere. (Cats somehow manage to relax in some pretty odd places and positions, but that’s another topic.) Your kitty will appreciate having some things that were made just for her. Consider getting her a cat tower, kitty condo, or play palace.

Our feline overlords may be finicky, but most of them do enjoy treats. Store-bought snacks are fine, but you can also make your own. Look online for recipes. Just stick to ingredients you know are safe!
